- National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is a compulsory test for students seeking admission to National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS), Mumbai. Both NISER and UM-DAE CBSwere set up by Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India in 2007.
NEST Exam Date 2022:
- National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CBS) Mumbai conducted NEST exam, generally held in Month of May.
- Registration / Online application opens : January 04, 2017 (10:00 am)
- Online application closes : March 04, 2017 (midnight)
- Download of admit card starts : April 15, 2017
- Date of examination : May 28, 2017 (Saturday), 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
- Announcement of results on NEST website : June 17, 2017
NEST 2022 Application / Registration
- Candidates may apply NEST exam Online or Offline Registration opens from January
- To apply for NEST 2022, candidates can fill-up application form using either online (preferable) or offline mode. For online application, candidates should visit www.nestexam.in on January.
NEST 2022 Eligibility
Candidates must qualify all three eligibility criteria listed below:
- Candidates in General and OBC category should be born on or after July 15, 1995. The age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ ST/ Physically Disabled (PD) candidates.
- Class XII qualifying examination should be passed in either 2013 or 2014. Candidates appearing in 2022 are also eligible. (Where only Letter Grade is given by the Board, a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage marks will be required. In the absence of such a certificate the decision of the respective Admission Committees will be final.)
- At least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII (or equivalent) examination from any recognized Board in India. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Persons with Disability (PD), the minimum requirement is 55%.
NEST 2022 Syllabus | Exam Pattern
- The question paper will consist of 5 (five) sections of objective (MCQ) type questions carrying 60 marks in each section.
- Section 1 : is the general section and is compulsory for all candidates. There will be no negative marking in general section.
- Sections 2 : through 5 will contain subject specific questions from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
- Candidates are permitted to attempt as many subject-sections as they wish. The questions are designed to test candidates’ subject comprehension and analytic ability. In the subject sections, there will be negative marking for incorrect answers.
- Language of the question paper will be English only

NEST 2022 Score card
- After the declaration of the results, CEED score cards will be available for downloading to all the qualified candidates after 22nd January 2019. Hard copy of the CEED score cards will NOT be available and hence will not be sent to the qualified candidates.
NEST 2022 Admit card Download:
- The admit card for NEST 2022 will be available for downloading / dispatch from April 2022. Admit cards will not be dispatched for online applicants. Such applicants must download their admit cards from NEST website (after login). Admit cards will be sent by post to the mailing address of the offline candidates.
