AP EdCET 2017A Common Entrance Test, designated as AP Education Common Entrance Test-2017 (APEd.CET-2017) will be conducted by the CONVENER, APEd.CET-2017,  Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education for admission in to B.Ed (Two years) Regular Course in the Colleges of Education in Andhra Pradesh State for the academic year 2017-2018.

AP EdCET 2017

AP EdCET 2017:

  • A Common Entrance Test, designated as AP Education Common Entrance Test-2017 for the admission in B.Ed. Regular Course in the Colleges of Education in Andhra Pradesh State for the academic year 2017-2017 namely viz. Government, Universities, Aided and Private.

AP EdCET Exam Date 2017:

  • Sri Venkateswara University (commonly referred to as S. V. University or SVU) is a state university in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh is responsible for conducting AP EdCET exam, generally held in Month of May. Last year it was held on 28th May in all the Districts of the State.

AP EdCET Application Form 2017:

  • Commencement of Submission of Online Application Starts from March.
  • Submission of Applications is permitted through online mode only. Registration Fee is non-Re fundable.
  • Application Registration and Processing Fee Rs.300/- only (For SC, ST Rs.150/-)
  • After filling all the boxes in the online application, the candidate must click on the submit button. Otherwise Registration number will not be generated and hence application will not be considered.
  • The candidates should have completed the age of 19 years on 1st July of the year in which notification is issued. There shall be no maximum age limit.

AP EdCET Eligibility 2017:

  • B.E. / B.Tech candidates with Mathematics, Physics are eligible to B.Ed. Course.
  • 2. Degree final year students are eligible to apply for AP Ed.CET-2017, they should submit provisional & marks list at the time of interview.
  • Candidates should have secured 50% marks either in the Bachelors Degree i.e. B.A./B.Sc/B.Sc (Home Science)/B.Com/BCA/BBM and/or in the Masters Degree in the relevant subject or any other subject equivalent there to. However the candidates belonging to all other reserved categories should have secured a minimum of 40 % marks in the qualifying examination.

AP EdCET Exam Pattern :

The common entrance test will be of objective type mcq (multiple choice question) examination. Candidate has to answer 150 questions in two hours time.



The question paper will be in English and Telugu except for English methodology.

Part-A: General English – 25 mcq =  1 Marks/ Questions Total= 25 Marks

Part-B:

  1. General Knowledge – 15 mcq =  1 Marks/ Questions Total= 15 marks
  2. Teaching Aptitude – 10 mcq  1 Marks/ Questions Total=  10 marks

Part-C: Methodology: Candidate has to choose one of the following subjects. It consists of 100 questions for 100 marks.

  1. Subject 1 – Mathematics – 100 mcq  1 Marks/ Questions Total=  100 marks
  2. Subject 2 – Physical Sciences– 100  1 Marks/ Questions Total=  100 marks
    1. Physics – 50  1 Marks/ Questions Total=  50 marks
    2. Chemistry – 50  1 Marks/ Questions Total=  50 marks
  3. Subject 3- Biological Sciences– 100  1 Marks/ Questions Total=  100 marks
    1. Botany – 50 mcq  1 Mark/ Questions Total=  50 marks
    2. Zoology – 50 1 Mark/ Questions Total=  50 marks
  4. Subject 4 Social Studies– 100 mcq questions for 100 marks
    1. Geography – 35 1 Mark/ Questions Total=   35 marks
    2. History – 30 1 Mark/ Questions Total=   30 marks
    3. Civics – 15 1 Mark/ Questions Total=   15 marks
    4. Economics – 20 1 Mark/ Questions Total=   20 marks
  5. Subject 5 English Methodology–100 1 Mark/ Questions Total=  100 marks
    1. Syllabus pertaining to English for Classes VIII , IX and X and that for the Two-Year Intermediate course of A.P.
      – 50 Questions for 50 Marks
    2. Syllabus prescribed for Optional English at B.A. Degree level (B.A., ML / Special English)
      – 50 Questions for 50 Marks.

Note: Part-A and Part-B are common for all the candidates irrespective of Methodology chosen in Part-C .

AP EdCET Syllabus :

Syllabus for the subjects under Part-A, Part-B and Part-C of the Education Common Entrance Test-2017.

Part-A  GENERAL ENGLISH

  • 1. Reading Comprehension.
  • 2. Correction of Sentences, Articles, Prepositions, Tenses, Spelling.
  • 3. Vocabulary, Synonyms, Antonyms.
  • 4. Transformation of Sentences – Simple, Compound and Complex. Voices, Direct Speech and Indirect Speech.

Part-B :  GENERAL KNOWLEDGE & TEACHING APTITUDE

  • Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate‟s general knowledge of the environment around him and its application to society.
  • Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observation and experience in their scientific outlook as is expected of an educated person.
  • The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring Countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Ecology, Economics, General Policy and Scientific Research.
  • Teaching requires certain characteristics like ability to communicate, ability to deal with Children, ability to recognise individual differences etc., apart from analytical thinking and general intelligence. One who has these characteristics will be able to become a good teacher after training. Questions relating to these aspects will be included to test one‟s teaching aptitude.

PART-C: One of the following subjects to be opted:

  • 1. Mathematics (MS)
  • 2. Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry) (PS)
  • 3. Biological Sciences (Botany and Zoology) (BS)
  • 4. Social Studies (Geography, History, Civics and Economics) (SS)

English [Special English in B.A.]

  • Syllabus pertaining to English for Classes VIII, IX and X and that for the Two-Year Intermediate course of A.P-50 Questions (50 Marks).
  • Topics : i) Language functions ii) Elements of Phonetics iii) Grammar iv) Phrasal Verbs (idioms) v) Writing skills vi) Study skills vii) Reference skills

AP EdCET Result | Merit List 2017:

  • The qualifying marks in the Entrance Test for all candidates (except SC/ST) is 37 out of total marks (i.e. 25%). For the candidates belonging to SC/ST communities there will be no qualifying marks for ranking. There will be no minimum qualifying marks for women in Physical Sciences/Mathematics methodologies.
  • RANKING: Candidates will be ranked in each methodology in the order of merit on the basis of marks obtained in APEd.CET -2017 examination. Where there is a tie in total marks, Part-C marks will be taken into account to decide relative ranking. In case of further tie, the marks obtained in Part-A will be taken into account to decide relative ranking.
  • In case of candidates getting equal marks in each of the parts of the test paper, they shall be bracketed for the purpose of award of rank. At the time of admission into the course, age shall be taken into consideration for relative ranking among the bracketed candidates and the older candidates shall be given priority.
  • The rank obtained in AP Ed.CET-2017 is valid for entry into B.Ed. course for the academic year 2017-2017 only.

AP EdCET Hall Tickets  2017:

  • Candidates can download their Hall Tickets from the website at http://apedcet.org/
  • In case any candidate could not download the Hall ticket she/he should contact the AP Edcet.
  • Request for issue of duplicate Hall Ticket will not be entertained after the examination in any case.

The Candidate should preserve the hall ticket to produce it at the time of test and later at the time of entry into the course
