Minimum educational qualification for BHU Recruitment 2017 for the Staff Nurse, Assistant Registrar, Assistant Teacher, etc. posts is given below.

PROFESSORIAL ENDOWMENT CHAIRS

(Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Chair) Integral Humanism, Faculty of Social Sciences (Rs. 1,00,000/- per month (fixed)

Period of appointment : 5 years (can be extended for another two years subject to a maximum of 7 years, not exceeding 70 years of age).

E.Q.:

A. (i) an eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the discipline of Social Sciences, i.e. Sociology/Political Science/History/Psychology/Economics and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.

(ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and/or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.

(iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology-mediated teaching learning process.

(iv) A minimum consolidated API score requirement of 400 points from category III of APIs as given in table 1 Appendix III of UGC Regulations on minimum qualifications for appointment of teachers and other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education 2010 and its subsequent amendments from time to time.

B. An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the Sociology/Political Science/History/Psychology/Economics, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the Sociology/Political Science/History/Psychology/Economics, to be substantiated by credentials.

The main objective of the chair will be to explore the scope of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyayaya’s ideas towards social and economic justice in 21st century India by undertaking researches on following counts:

i. Political Philosophy; ii. Integral Humanism; iii. Traditions of India’s ancient culture; iv. Strengthening the concept of Swaraj (Self-governance) D.Q.: Publication in the area of Integral Humanism and traditions of India’s ancient culture or evidence of working, researching and publishing on Indian problems.

Neo-vaishnavite movement with special reference to Srimanta Sankardeva,
Faculty of Social Sciences

E.Q.:

A. The objectives of establishing the chair will be

a) To focus on research and study on the literary and cultural contributions by the great saint and his disciples in the contextual relevance of today; b) To support on Research on the Neo-vaishnavite movement with special reference to Srimantra Sankaradeva. c) To support on study and research on the relevance of the contributions of Mahapurush Shrimanta Sankaradeva to the present Indian society; d) To educate new generations of students about Assam and its tradition & rich Culture; e) To spread the great works of the saint outside the periphery of Assam and the country; f) To produce scholars and researchers who will foster the great literary works of the saint; g) To lead doctoral and postdoctoral research in the field; h) To organise seminars and colloquia in various parts of the country and abroad.

D.Q.: Publications in the area of contributions of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva/Worked or guided research in the area of Social movements preferably religion movement of Neo-vaishnavisam.

Essential qualification for Non-teaching positions under Group ‘A’, ‘B’ & ‘C’ (including erstwhile group ‘D’)

For Post Code: 1538 (Medical Superintendent): E.Q.: Should possess a recognized post graduate medical qualification from a recognized Institution with 10 years Administrative experience.

For Post Code: 20149 (Dy. Medical Superintendent (MM): MBBS recognized by MCI, MD/MS recognized by MCI in any clinical subject with 10 years administrative experience in a teaching hospital having minimum 500 beds.

Age limit: Less than 55 years at the time of advertisement. D.Q.: Master in Hospital Administration/ Diploma in Administration.

For Post Code 20147 (Deputy Registrar) : E.Q.: (1) A Master’s degree with at least 55% of the marks or its equivalent grade or B in the UGC seven point scale; (2) Nine years’ of experience as a Assistant Professor in a college or a University with experience in educational administration. OR Comparable experience in research establishment and/or other institutions of higher education. OR Five years’ of administrative experience as Assistant Registrar or an equivalent post.

Note: The minimum requirement of 55% may not be insisted upon for the existing incumbents who are already in the University system.

D.Q.: Degree in Management and LL.B, Knowledge of Computer.

For Post Code: 3094 (Assistant Registrar) : E.Q.: Good academic record plus Master’s Degree with at least 55% of marks or equivalent grade of B in the UGC seven point scale. D.Q.: Degree in Management and LL.B, Knowledge of Computer.

For Post Code: 30183 (Medical Officer (MM)): E.Q.: MBBS recognized by MCI, M.S./M.D. in General Medicine/General Surgery/Obs. & Gynaecology/ /Orthopaedics/ /Pathology . D.Q.: Preference will be given to the experienced candidate in relevant discipline.

For Post Code: 30184 (Medical Officer): E.Q.: M.S./M.D. in the relevant post in General Surgery/Orthopaedics/General Medicine/Pathology; D.Q.: 02 years Senior Resident/Experience as Medical Officer in the specialty

For Post Code: 30186 (Research Officer): E.Q.: i. Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in a Social Sciences /Humanities from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.

ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) for Lecturer/Assistant Professor conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.

iii. Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) to this Clause 4.4.1, candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or the subsequent

Regulations if notified by the UGC, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant

Professor or equivalent positions in Universities /Colleges /Institutions. “Provided further, the award of degree to candidates registered for the M.Phil/Ph.Dprogramme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/Bylaws/Regulations of the Institutions awarding the degree and the Ph.D candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:-

  • a) Ph.D. degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only;
  • b) Evaluation of the Ph.D. thesis by at least two external examiners;
  • c) Open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate had been conducted;
  • d) Candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D. work out of which at least one must be in a refereed journal;
  • e) Candidate has made at least two presentations in conferences/seminars, based on his/her Ph.D work. (a) to (e) as above are to be certified by the Vice-Chancellor/Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Dean(Academic Affairs)/Dean(University instructions).”

(iv). NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.

For Post Code: 4384(Junior Clerk): E.Q.: Second Class Graduate with at least six months of training on the use of Computer for Office Automation, Book keeping and word processing from a certified Institution or Second Class Graduate with Diploma in Computer recognized by AICTE. Typing and Computer Test shall be conducted which shall also be counted in determining the final merit for selection.

For Post Code: 4441 (Staff Nurse): E.Q.: I (i) B.Sc. (Hons.) in (Nursing) from a recognised University or Institute OR Regular course in B.Sc. Nursing from a recognised University or Institute. OR Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing) from recognised University or Institute. (ii) Registered as Nurse or Nurse and Midwife (RN or RN and RM) with State Nursing Council, and (iii) Six months experience in Minimum fifty bedded hospital after acquiring the educational qualifications mentioned above OR II (i) Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery from a recognised Board or Council. (ii) Registered as Nurse or Nurse and Midwife (RN or RN and RM) with State Nursing Council. (iii) Two and half years experience in minimum fifty bedded hospital after acquiring the educational qualifications mentioned at II (i) above.

For Post Code: 4442(Occupational Therapist): E.Q.: I. Sc.,2. Degree/Diploma in Occupational/Physio-Occupational Therapy. D.Q.: Two years experience in a recognized hospital

Assistant Teacher (PGT)

For Post Codes: (10101): Essential Qualification: a) Second Class Master’s Degree in the relevant subject with not less than 50% marks from a recognized University. b) B.Ed. or its equivalent degree duly approved by NCTE from a recognized University. c) Competence to teach both through Hindi and English medium. D.Q.: Knowledge of Computer Applications.

Age Limit: Maximum age limit for Assistant Teacher (PGT) is 40 years , relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates. 10 years age relaxation for the post of Assistant Teacher (PGT) at par with KVS norms, is allowed over and above the prescribed limit in respect of Women candidates to promote women education and to attract them to teaching profession.

Selection process will consist of written test (85% marks) and interview (15% marks). 10 candidates per vacancy in order of merit based on the score obtained in the written test shall be called for interview.

Assistant Teacher (TGT)

For Post Codes: (20150): E.Q.: a) Second Class Bachelor’s Degree with not less than 50% marks in aggregate including elective subjects and language with B.Ed. or its equivalent Degree duly recognized by NCTE from a recognized University. The Combination of subjects as History, Geography, Economics and Political Science of which one must be either History or Geography. b) Pass in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) conducted by CBSE in accordance with Guidelines frame by the NCTE for the purpose. c) Competence to teach both through Hindi and English medium.

For Post Codes: (20151): E.Q.: Degree in Music from a recognized University.

For Post Codes : 20150, 20151 : D.Q.: Knowledge of Computer Applications.

AGE LIMIT: (For Group ‘B’ & ‘C’ (including erstwhile Group ‘D) Posts) : (1) 18-30 years for general category; 18-35 years for SC/ST; and 18-33 for OBC; (2) 18-35 years for widows/divorced and women judicially separated from their husbands and not remarried (40 years for SC/ST); (3) No age bar for permanent employees of BHU; (4) 18-40 years where the requirement is post graduate/graduate qualifications and experience in the area of Professional/Technical/Research and Library; (5) Period spent on working against any post in the project/scheme or on contract/daily wage basis in BHU including broken period of service rendered as indicated above may also be taken into account for the purpose of age relaxation for appointment in regular establishment provided that one stretch of such service is for more than six months. For others age relaxation will be admissible as per Government of India rules. (6) In respect of Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ (erstwhile) positions weightage of 4% marks for each year of service (at least 240 days per year for daily wagers) rendered by daily wages/ contractual employees in the Banaras Hindu University up to a maximum ceiling of 20% marks in every criterion of assessment (skill test/ written test) will be allowed, subject to the condition that such employees meet the eligibility condition (qualification and experience ) for the position being so filled.

Application Fees

BHU Recruitment 2017 General Instructions to the Candidates

  • 1. Online mode of submission of applications shall be essential.
  • 2. There is a separate online recruitment form for Group ‘A’, ‘B’ & ‘C’ and School teaching posts.
  • 3. Applicants shall first register on the Recruitment & Assessment Cell portal on the BHU website, after which, they can fill up the prescribed electronic application form online.
  • 4. Separate applications shall be submitted for different positions.
  • 5. Before starting to fill up the form, please ensure keeping ready a digital copy of passport size photograph in JPEG format not exceeding 50 kb in file size and digital copy of signature not exceed 50KB, for up-loading.
  • 6. Filling all mandatory fields is required to make your application complete.
  • 7. Incomplete applications will not be considered and will be REJECTED.
  • 8. While filling the online application, if your browser closes unexpectedly or if you are logged out, please use the login information sent to your email to login again.
  • 9. In case of any technical problems, please send an email to recruitment@bhu.ac.in
  • 10. There are several Tabs in your application. After completing each tab, you should click on “Save and Proceed” button to saving the information and move to the next tab.   • 12. Mere eligibility will not entitle any candidate for being called for interview. More stringent criteria including holding written test may be applied for short-listing the candidates to be called for interview. Applicants having higher qualification and merit or higher marks in the written test will be given preference in case of Group A posts.
  • 13. The Ordinances governing the procedure to be followed by the Selection Committee may be seen on the portal of the Recruitment & Assessment Cell on the BHU website.
  • 14. The University shall verify the antecedents or documents submitted by a candidate at the time of appointment or during the tenure of the service. In case, it is detected that the documents submitted by the candidates are fake or the candidate has a clandestine antecedents/ background and has suppressed the said information, then his/her services shall be terminated.
  • 15. The University reserves the right to withdraw any advertised post(s) at any time without giving any reason. Any consequential vacancies arising at the time of interview may also be filled up from the available candidates. The University may, at its discretion, fill up any future vacancy belonging to Gen./SC/ST/OBC as per roster point out of the available candidates. The number of positions is thus open to change. The University may relax/review the qualification/ experience and age limit at its discretion at any stage and in case of candidates with exceptional merit.
  • 16. A candidate belonging to any reserved category who desires to be considered for any unreserved post also besides the posts under reserved category, will have to submit separate forms for Unreserved posts and reserved posts.
  • 17. In case of any inadvertent mistake in the process of selection which may be detected at any stage even after the issue of appointment letter, the University reserves right to modify/withdraw/cancel any communication made to the candidate.
  • 18. In case of any dispute/ambiguity that may occur in the process of selection, the decision of the University shall be final.
  • 19. Applicants who are in employment should route their application through proper channel or should submit a “No Objection Certificate” from the employer prior to the interview, failing which they may not be considered further.
  • 20.   • 21. Candidates are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess at least the minimum essential qualifications laid down in the advertisement.

  • 24. BHU Recruitment 2017 General Instructions to the Candidates

  • 1. Banaras Hindu University is following the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and Other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education 2010 and its subsequent amendments UGC (2nd Amendment), Regulations, 2013 and 3rd Amendment & 4th Amendment), Regulations, 2016 (hereinafter referred as UGC Regulations 2010) which have come in force w.e.f. 30-6-2010. Accordingly, for teachers in the Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Science, the norms/regulations of Indian Council of Agricultural Research; for Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and AYUSH, the norms/Regulations of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India; for Faculty of Education, the norms/Regulations formulated in consultations with National Council of Teacher Education; for Engineering and Technology, Pharmacy and Management/Business Administration, the norms/Regulations formulated in consultations with All India Council for Technical Education; and for the qualifications in the field of rehabilitation and special education at Degree, PG Diploma and Masters level, the norms/Regulations formulated in consultations with Rehabilitation Council of India, shall apply.
  • 2. The composite rolling advertisement will remain alive all the time and will be updated every time when a new vacancy is created or when the earlier advertised positions are filled up by selection. The prospective applicants, therefore, can apply anytime of the year, but the applications will be processed after the cutoff dates indicated beforehand on the website.
  • 3. There shall be two cutoff dates in a calendar year, 6 months apart. The applications received till the cutoff date shall be processed further for shortlisting and conduct of selection committee. Applications received after the cutoff date shall be processed further during the next round of selection process subject to the condition that the vacancy continues in the composite rolling advertisement after completion of the selection process in hand. However, the University can further process even the applications received after the aforesaid prescribed cutoff date for the ensuing round of selection, from Candidates who obtain a “Quality Score” of 70 or above on a 100 point scale. For description of quality score, please refer to the shortlisting guidelines.
  • 4. Online mode of submission of applications shall be essential. Candidates are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess at least the minimum essential qualifications laid down in the advertisement.
  • 5. Applicants shall first register on the Recruitment & Assessment Cell portal on the BHU website, after which, they can fill up the prescribed electronic application form online. Separate applications shall be submitted for different positions.
  • 6. Before starting to fill up the form, please ensure keeping ready a digital copy of passport size photograph in JPEG format not exceeding 50 kb in file size and digital copies of some best publications, if any, for up-loading.
  • 7. While filling the online application, if the browser closes unexpectedly or if the candidate is logged out, he/she may use the login information sent to his/her email to login again.
  • 8. Please ensure to enter all your research publications and other Academic/Research contributions in the online application. Only the information entered in the online applications will be taken into account for deciding eligibility and/or shortlisting. Uploading digital copies of publications is optional. Filling all mandatory fields is required to make your application Complete.
  • 9. Incomplete applications will not be considered and will be REJECTED.
  • 10. There are several Tabs in your application. After completing each tab, you should click on “Save and Proceed” button to save the information and move to the next tab.   • 14. Please note that sending the duly signed printout of the PDF alongwith all enclosures is mandatory without which the applications may not be considered for further processing. Mere eligibility will not entitle any candidate for being called for interview. More stringent criteria may be applied for short-listing the candidates to be called for interview. Applicants having higher qualification and merit will be given preference. Candidates must send self-attested copies of certificates and mark-sheets from matriculation (10th Standard) onwards in support of their qualifications and reprints of publications and certificates in support of their API score claimed (for teaching positions) for the post alongwith the hard copy of the application form.
  • 15. Applicants may update their qualifications and other academic achievements, etc. (for API/Quality score) by logging-in in the portal using their login ID and Password till cutoff date as prescribed under the particular Rolling Advertisement. Applicants are not allowed to update their application beyond the cutoff date. However, if the post remains unfilled till the next cut-off date, the candidates will be permitted to update their applications by the cutoff date. The eligibility of candidate for a particular round of selection shall be decided as on the cutoff date of that round.
  • 16. Good Academic Record for all teaching positions shall be as defined in the Ordinance. 17. Relevant grade which is regarded as equivalent of 55% wherever the grading system is followed by a recognized University shall also be considered eligible.
  • 18. A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks to the Ph.D. degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September, 1991.
  • 19. The relaxation of marks for the SC/ST/OBC/Specially-abled (Physically and Visually specially abled) categories will be as per UGC Regulations on Minimum qualifications for appointment of Teachers and Other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education 2010 as amended from time to time.
  • 20. The relaxation in age will be admissible as per Government of India/University norms.
  • 21. The eligibility of an application shall be determined in accordance with the UGC Regulations, 2010 and its subsequent amendments and/or in accordance with the relevant regulations of concerned Regulatory bodies.
  • 22. For teaching positions short-listing shall be done as per guidelines approved by Executive Council of the University.
  • 23. The Ordinances governing the procedure to be followed by the Selection Committee may be seen on the portal of the Recruitment & Assessment Cell on the BHU website.
  • 24. Mere eligibility will not entitle any candidate for being called for interview. More stringent criteria including holding written test may be applied for short-listing the candidates to be called for interview. Applicants having higher qualification and merit or higher marks in the written test will be given preference.
  • 25. The University shall verify the antecedents or documents submitted by a candidate at the time of appointment or during the tenure of the service. In case, it is detected that the documents submitted by the candidates are fake or the candidate has a clandestine antecedent/ background and has suppressed the said information, then his/her services shall be terminated.
  • 26. The University reserves the right to withdraw any advertised post(s) at any time without giving any reason. Any consequential vacancies arising at the time of interview may also be filled up from the available candidates. The University may, at its discretion, fill up any future vacancy belonging to Gen./SC/ST/OBC as per roster point out of the available candidates. The number of positions is thus open to change. The University may relax/review the qualification/ experience and age limit at its discretion at any stage and in case of candidates with exceptional merit.
  • 27. A candidate belonging to any reserved category who desires to be considered for any unreserved post also besides the posts under reserved category, will have to submit separate forms for Unreserved posts and reserved posts.
  • 28. In case of any inadvertent mistake in the process of selection which may be detected at any stage even after the issue of appointment letter, the University reserves right to modify/withdraw/cancel any communication made to the candidate.
  • 29. In case of any dispute/ambiguity that may occur in the process of selection, the decision of the University shall be final.
  • 30. Applicants who are in employment should route their application through proper channel or should submit a “No Objection Certificate” from the employer prior to the interview, failing which they may not be considered further.
  • 31. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
  • 32. No interim correspondence shall be entertained.
  • 33.
