- Candidates seeking for the admission into PHD in Chemistry and M.Sc PHD in Chemistry courses have to appear in TIFR GS Chemistry Exam 2018. It is conducted by Tata Institute of Fundamental Research at the Mumbai campus and various National Centres of TIFR.
TIFR GS Chemistry Admission 2018:
- The admissions procedure for Chemistry courses, consists of a written test (TIFR GS Entrance) and followed by interviews of shortlisted candidates.
In addition to the admissions through this nationwide examination in December, admissions in Physics based on GATE / CSIR NET / JEST scores are also possible.
TIFR GS Chemistry Exam Date:
- The test conducted by Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) is generally held in Month of December. Last year it was held on December 14, 2014.
- Next Exam Date : Sunday, December 13, 2015 Morning Session: 09:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
TIFR GS Chemistry Eligibility
- For Ph.D.: M.Sc./M.Pharm.
For Ph.D.: B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech./B.Pharm.
Syllabus & Exam Pattern
TIFR GS Chemistry Exam Pattern
- Duration : Three hours (3 hours).
- This is a multiple choice question paper with one section having a total of 40 questions. Each correct answer will get you 3 marks.
- Every wrong answer will get you ‐1 mark. Marks are not awarded or deducted when a question is not attempted. It is better not to answer a question if you are not sure.
Use of calculators is permitted. Calculator which plots graphs is NOT allowed. Multiple‐use devices such as cell phones, smart phones etc., CANNOT be used for this purpose.
TIFR GS Chemistry Exam Syllabus
- The syllabus for the Written test in Chemistry is similar to the typical standard syllabus
followed in any Indian university for the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree course.
- The questions are aimed at testing the basic understanding and knowledge in the areas of physical, organic, inorganic, analytical, electro and quantum chemistry, biophysics,
thermodynamics, spectroscopy (NMR, fluorescence, IR, UV and X-ray), logic and
statistics and mathematical methods.
