  • The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (Authorized Agency) announces holding of State Eligibility Test (SET) in the month of May/June 2017 (Sunday) for determining the Eligibility for recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor  in universities and colleges located within the State of Himachal Pradesh.
  • The test will be conducted in 19 subjects as listed below at various examination centres located at i.e. Shimla, Solan, Mandi and Kangra.

HPPSC SET 2017 Exam Date

  • Every year Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) conducted HP SET exam in the month of May or June. Last year it was conducted on 19.07.2015.
  • Date Of Examination : May/ June, 2017 (Sunday) one day in two separate sessions

HPPSC SET Online Application Form 2017

  • Candidates are required to visit at http://hp.gov.in/hppsc/ and click the link to APPLY ONLINE. Detailed instructions for filling up Online Applications are available on the above mentioned website.
  • The candidates already registered with HPPSC for other examinations / test need not to register again and they may use said User ID and Password for applying online.
  • Closing date for submission of online applications Through website is upto 17.12.2015 till 11:59 p.M. After Which the link will be disabled. Download Advertisement.
The candidates must read the instructions carefully, which are available on the website of the Commission, i.e. http://hp.gov.in/hppsc/ before filling up Online Recruitment Application Forms.

HPPSC SET Eligibility 2017

The minimum eligibility criteria for  Himachal Pradesh State Eligibility Test Exam 2017 By Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HP PSC) is given below.



Age Limit

  • There is no upper age limit to apply for appearing in SET.

Minimum Educational QUALIFICATION

  • Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test.
  • The Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Other Backward Classes (Non- creamy layer/ Persons with Disability (PWD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.
 Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) may also apply for this Test.

  • Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet provided by the Commission.
  • There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

HPPSC SET  Syllabus 2017

All questions of Paper-II and Paper-III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (including all electives, without options).

  • The HPPSC SET  Syllabus for all the subjects are that of UGC which can be downloaded from H.P. Public Service Commission’s website http://hp.gov.in/hppsc/. The Syllabus can also be downloaded from UGC website www.ugc.ac.in. This agency will not supply the copies of syllabus to the individual candidates. In case of any discrepancy found in the English and Hindi versions, the questions in English version shall be taken as final.

Matriculation/Post Graduation / Category to which they belong, in the office of H.P. Public Service Commission enabling to determine their eligibility for issuing SET qualified certificate.

Minimum Qualifying marks in HPPSC SET 2017

Minimum marks in HPPSC SET 2017 and Procedure & Criteria For Declaration Of Result, This will comprise of following steps: 

  • Step I: Minimum marks to be obtained in SET for considering a candidate for eligibility for Assistant Professor. The candidates are required to obtain following minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III as given below:

Minimum Qualifying marks

  • Step II: Amongst those candidates who have cleared step I, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the three papers secured by such candidates.
  • Step III: Top 15% candidates (for each subject and category), from the merit list mentioned under step II, will be declared SET qualified for recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor(s).

  • The  on-line Admit Cards of HPPSC SET will be available two weeks ahead of the date of examination. 
  • The Admit Cards for HPPSC SET 2017 have already been uploaded in official website of HPPSC http://hp.gov.in/
  • Candidates are requested to download the same by clicking on the icon “Login for Applicants”, then typing their HPPSC username and password in the appropriate boxes, and finally choosing the option “Candidate for HPPSC SET”.
